We know the power of labyrinths. The Legacy Labyrinth Project was organized to demonstrate that connected labyrinths can impact the change we want to see in the world.

History

The original mission of the Legacy Labyrinth Project was to build a global network of labyrinths and to educate the communities of the legacy labyrinths how to use them to send positive intentions to all other Legacy Labyrinth regions around the world. The Legacy Labyrinth Project buries the materials of all the labyrinths around all of the labyrinths, so to energetically connect them.

As we were beginning to organize and deliver experiential education workshops for all the Legacy Labyrinths, COVID hit the planet, and we were unable to travel for about 2.5 years, hence could not offer the education.

However, the silver lining to not being able to travel during COVID was that we could do research on the idea of sending positive intentions, as well as how to people connect on labyrinths that are miles apart.

This silver lining ended up in a series of research studies called Big Connection. Legacy Labyrinth Project partnered with Dr, Jocelyn McGee of Baylor University, Garland School of Social Work, and pioneer in the research of contemplative practice.

Legacy Labyrinth Project also collaborated with The Labyrinth Society's World Labyrinth Day Event, Veriditas, and the Australian Labyrinth Network.

Since 2020 Legacy Labyrinth Project has done 3 studies we call Big Connection 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

Our goal with these studies is to further study people connecting around the world while walking the labyrinth at the same time, as well as the connections they feel, the impacts of how heart/brain meditation and intention setting while walking the labyrinth, and the collective impact on global social issues, which we call Labyrinth Activism.

Labyrinth Activism as a term and practice came directly out of our Big Connection research.

All of the studies done to date have been submitted to journals for publication. Currently, Big Connection 1.0 and 2.0 are pending publication. When published the link will be on this page to view.
